my first ride with pontiancyclingdude in 2010

I was unable to ride regularly together with my friends because of certain circumstances that hard for me to avoid. But today I was lucky to ride with my buddies again. One of the reason is I am sending my car to my mechanic (John, Buyung's bother) so I took this opportunity to ride with them. I was surprised to know that Bogor also doing his first road cycling. Picture above shows Bogor looks very proud with his new road bike.

Even though this is Bogor first road cycling, he was very impressive and can follow our peddling easily

As usual we look for a restaurant for breakfast . We had a tasty soto today.

On my way back, my bottom bracket making some weird sound. The sound really disturbing me and I was unable to ride the bike fully. As we reached our destination, Buyung quickly check the BB and found out that the right BB was a little loose. After tightening it, the sound gone. Although the ride was short today (45km), the ride was fun and I am hoping to ride again with them regularly.

Test ride

Destination: Kulai-Kedai Ah Fan (Pekan Nanas)

Distance: 65 km

We start our ride at around 8.15 a.m. Our first visit is the water machine near 7 eleven. Nape put a 30 sen of clean water into his camelbak. Since I don't have any hydration bag, I use a 500ml of water bottle.

We met a group of road cyclist from JB (Tmn Universiti) who happened to passed us before. One of them had a rear tyre puncture so I stop and took a quick picture of them...

The journey was very pleasant since the cloud was almost everywhere. We stop at Ah Fan bike shop to adjust our bike. Ah Fan (red shirt) give us free bike setting as usual.

Around 12.00 were cycle back to Kulai. The black cloud gathered very quickly on the horizon. This is not a good sign for us. The wind starts blowing very hard.

Although the rain falls grizzling we keep paddling. At times, we had to pull off to the road when the rain falls heavily...

It was almost home when the rain falls very heavy. We had to take shelter under the tunnel near the Kulai plaza toll. I had a great cycling today. This is my first long distance ride using my mtb bike. I am looking forward for our next ride. Till then, bye

Pinarello F4:13

This is Hafiz new bike. After riding Pinarello F3:13 for 2 years, he decided to make a change and bought this F4:13 (size 46). The frame has a silver and black colour combination. The groupset he choose is Campagnolo Chorus 11 speed. The wheels is Fulcrum 1. For me, this is a clear warning sign from Hafiz. What a great bike. Hope his riding well...

Pontian-Gunung Pulai

Date: 25/10/09

Distance: 62 km

We knew that there will be a huge crowd at Gunung Pulai 1 since the place was the venue for the MTB hash today. So we switch our route to Gunung Pulai 1. Where elso we can go. Today's ride were joint by Azies, Buyung and Hafiz (black/white jersey). The weather was great too.

When we reached the foot hill of Gunung Pulai, we saw many joggers were entering the site. So we ride up hill. The picture shows the place where we had our first stop (no practice very hard to climb...5 km maa)...

We had our stop a few time since I got a mechanical problem. The chain keeps jumping down and make me difficult to ride. The mist was everywhere and nothing to be seen up there.

Before we reach the summit the rain falls. it was very difficult to ride uphill ( nearly 3000 meter from see level) but it was nearly impossible to ride down hill...we walk mostly down hill since the road was too slippery.

Pontian-Gunung Pulai 2

Time: 8.00am-12.00pm

This was our first outing since Ramadan. As usual, some of us have done some upgraded. Let's check it out

No wonder they performed well today. I told them that the pictures were for Hari Raya greeting. So we wish our friend and viewers Selamat Hari Raya. Only Bro Encun was not with us today. Hope he will make it for our next ride.

The weather was super nice.What was supposed to be an easy ride turns out to be a fast paced. At some point we achieved 50km/h...maybe the energy came from rendang and ketupat we ate a lot during Hari Raya hehe.

As we nearly arrived at out check point, we met a group of mtb rider from cyclemotion group and few riders from Singapore preparing to enter the jungle a the foot hill of Gunung Pulai 2. They are preparing for the Gunung Pulai hash that will be held on this 24 October 2009. This a 32km off road challenge.

We moved on to take our breakfast at our usual place, warong pak Hassan. One of our main topic was Azies new handphone....cool gadget

Only a few kilometre before we finished our ride today, Buyung's rear tyre blown up.

Luckily Andy came to the rescue. Buyung looks happy although his tyre puncture. Maybe he get a free ride back home.

Deda Synapsi (Part II)

Here's are some pics of the Deda Synapsi which I promised to post before. This Deda Synapsi is now own by my friend, Azies. Up to now, we still haven't decide when we (Pontiancyclingdude) going to start riding again.

Pontian-CIQ Gelang Patah

Today we going to CIQ Gelang Patah. There were only four of us

The first picture shows Azies leading the group. And to my surprised Azies was too fast and really good today. I can't even match him climbing the hill near the CIQ as shown on the 2nd picture. Unbelievable

Most of us were having nasi lemak including Chu...but I am not in the mood eating nasi lemak and ate some bread instead...

We are preparing to cycle back to Pontian...

On our way back, suddenly a mtb cyclist has overtake us...and guess who...its Bro Bogor...We have invited him today to join us today since his fitness already showing some improvement but he refused and wanted to cycle alone. Please note that he is wearing the new jersey and helmet (met) with identical colour scheme....excellent

About 3-4 km after meeting Bro Bogor I had a rear puncture...Nobody were there since I was far back...but I can fix it...no problem. Picture shows my Reynolds rear wheel without tube and tyre.

Bro Bogor wants us to meet his Singaporean friend who visiting his family in Pontian, but he was already going somewhere when we arrived. Today's ride was fun. The weather was nice too...This probably our last meeting before Ramadan and as usual we will be back on road after Hari Raya. Till then see ya.
