Never one to be left behind, Eddy Merkcx has secured the same material as used in the Pinarello FP3 (also used in their F4:13, as well as the FP6, internally,) strengthening his (upper?)mid level fleet with a lighter and more comfortable offering for 2009. Imagine all the benefits of the Pinarello FP3, wrapped up in the famous Eddy Merckx geometry package. You get the incredible ride qualities of the FP3 30HM12K, including weight savings, stiff power transfer and vertical compliance. These qualities are complimented by the Eddy Merckx Century geometry. Merckx is known for his super stable geometry platform, bringing confidence in the descents, rock solid performance for sprinting with reckless abandon and endless hammering on the flats. The F4:13 was first introduced in 2006, as Pinarello's second tier frameset, the perfect bike for the serious enthusiast, looking to maximize performance without blowing the entire annual race/tour budget. This same bike lives on, albeit with some refinement, in the FP6's internal structure, the FP3 complete bike and the all new Eddy Merckx EMX-3, as a frameset only or complete Ultegra bike!
The angles are a bit more relaxed in the head tube and seat tube, with a bit more set back, shorter top tube and longer head tube. This conservative approach allows for a slightly more upright position and less toe overlap, allowing the rider to relax, sit back, pedal all day, then snap out those last, precious watts, when it really counts. The all new EMX-3 is ideal for the serious recreational cyclist, longer training rides, centuries, double centuries, etc.
Don't get the wrong impression. This is the same material used to produce the FP3, Pinarello's most popular model. This is a ProTour caliber frameset, which will unleash your full potential. This is the lightest, most rigid and most comfortable carbon Eddy Merckx to date, of this quality, stiff enough for World Championships and comfortable enough for, "The Hell of the North," Paris-Roubaix. Whether you're taking in the sights, hammering your group riders, or looking to move up to Cat 1/2, a frameset of this linneage, worth bearing the name of perhaps the only cyclist to keep Lance Armstrong playing catch up, should warrent your most serious consideration. Thank you Eddy!
